Since this SIG aims to bring together researchers using Audiovisual Materials, we try to organise events for researchers to get to know each other and exchange knowledge. In 2014 we organised the first workshop on Audiovisual Materials in Digital Humanities during the DH2014 conference in Lausanne.
At the DH2015 conference in Sydney, the SIG was formally established.
During the DH2016 conference in Krakow, the SIG organised a second workshop with the theme ‘Audiovisual Data and Digital Scholarship: Towards Multimodal Literacy’.
At the DH2017 conference in Montreal, the SIG organised a third workshop on ‘Computer Vision in Digital Humanities.’
During the DH2018 conference in Mexico City, the SIG’s workshop theme was ‘Distant Viewing with Deep Learning: An Introduction to Analyzing Large Corpora of Images’.
At the upcoming DH2019 conference in Utrecht, the SIG organises its fifth workshop.
