Welcome at the website of the Special Interest Group ‘AudioVisual data in Digital Humanities’. The formation of the SIG has been approved by the Steering Committee of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) in December 2014. The idea for a SIG addressing the special rol of audiovisual material in digital scholarship in the Humanities emerged during the successful workshop on the topic (AVinDH2014) at the Digital Humanities conference held in Lausanne in July 2014.
In order to prepare the next steps, a working group has been formed (consisting of Clara Henderson, Martijn Kleppe, Stef Scagliola and Franciska de Jong). In the coming months we will set up the instruments for the communication within the SIG community and for reaching out to the rest of the world. We expect to be able to organize an official launching event at DH2015 in Sydney. At that time we also hope to be able to install a steering board. A selection procedure will be designed to ensure that this body will be a good representation of our community.
